      The 2026-27 NBA season tips off on Tuesday 20 October with a tripleheader, and the nightcap is the one the whole league has been waiting for: Oklahoma City at San Antonio, 9:30 pm ET — a rematch of last season's seven-game Western Conference final, on the night Wembanyama starts the year he is meant to finish at the top.

      It is the 81st regular season, and it starts with a completely new map: Giannis Antetokounmpo in Miami, LaMelo Ball in Minnesota, Klay Thompson alongside Giannis, Jaylen Brown and LeBron James in Philadelphia. Here is what opening week looks like, and the four shirts to have before the ball goes up.

      Christmas Day (Friday 25 December) opens with the Western Conference final rematch — San Antonio at Oklahoma City, noon ET — then four more games through the day. The in-season cup runs from 30 October to 11 December.
